Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description
On a shield 2 3/4 inches (6.99 cm) in height and 2 inches (5.08 cm) in width divided horizontally red and blue by a 1/16 inch (.16 cm) yellow partition line invected two yellow tridents in saltire, all within a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) yellow border.

Symbolism
The colors red, blue and yellow are representative of the three arms composing the Eastern Defense Command:  Artillery, Infantry and Cavalry, while the tridents and the invected partition line which suggests waves are representative of the Coastal Defense functions of the organization.

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia was approved on 27 November 1943.
